Join the Second Winders Sierra Striders Group of as we explore the incredibly beautiful high alpine country below Mount Banner on the east side of the Sierras in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The trip starts and ends at the Agnew Meadow trailhead. This is south of Yosemite, north of Devils Postpile and near Mammoth Mountain. Mules will carry our gear to our first camp along the Middle Fork San Joaquin River. Next we will backpack to Garnet Lake. Later we will visit spectacular Thousand Island Lake and the Clark Lakes. This trip will have two layover days, including an optional day hike to the top of Mount Banner. The use of packhorses on the first day is optional but highly encouraged. It will add approximately $70 to the cost of the trip, depending on the number mules used. This extra expense is paid to the horse packer, not to Second Winders.
