Second Winders backpacking organization is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino Real. We are celebrating our 28th year and invite you to explore with us the magnificent wilderness of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. Two groups take to the mountains at the end of July or beginning of August for a week of hiking, camping, and exploration. We carry everything, so some days can be challenging as we go about our explorations with extra weight on our backs. A comparative trip difficulty table, trip descriptions, and leader contacts for each group are listed in this brochure.

Silver Divide in the John Muir Wilderness, north of Kings Canyon National Park, Trailhead at Lake Edison.
